Yep, another night that I cant get to sleep. So I will entertain you with "ramblings from a mad 1/4 black, 1/4 white, 1/4 Indian, and 1/4 "other" woman. We have some excitement going on at the multi-racial Cornell home. We finally got together with the other half of Commonwealth and started practicing on some material. For those who were wondering what the heck Commonwealth is..well its our band. Yes, Really. I actually came back to this band after an unplanned break since NYears(our first gig..He he that still sounds so dorky in a unusually cool way). So we have been practicing and looking at doing some pretty good arrangements of songs. I love the song Be thou my Vision, and I love the way we used a sampling of that great hymn and turned it modern. We are looking for someone else, preferably a male who can play Guitar and Bass and can sing. I'm not crazy about singing by myself, so we are keeping our ears open. The girls took Track Camp this summer and its usually the month of June. Tuesday was the track meet and the girls did really well. Cambria will definitely be my distance runner if she decides to keep at it. Casi is my sprint runner. She is like me, If its over faster, then that's the kind of run I wanna do. So the Camp is over and I feel I can start concentrating on me. Rob is home now and he is being such a great helper around the house and he does things that I can't even have imagined that needed to be done! Next week starts our transformation week. Which means, we are going room by room and changing something. Our first stop...the office. With Rob using it for his music room and I'm trying to work around his guitars and equipment...well, it makes for a stuffy office. Ill keep you updated and post pics of the finished room or the divorce papers when it comes down to 2 stubborn people to transform this room...lol just kidding, I just need to be the good submissive wife...right? he he...
The other happening is the possibility of me and Rob being a part of a ministry in Fowler, IN. Its called the Compass and super cool. It's a coffeehouse that has various artist come in and play about twice a month. We are waiting to get the ok for Rob and I to be the promoters and hosts to bands as they come play. This is my dream job! So Ill keep you posted on this too as it unfolds.
Hmm, what else...Oh..its summer(betcha knew that already), so its antique/knick knack/flea market store shopping time. I love going to stores downtown and finding cool treasures. I started collecting old cameras to use as display pieces. I remember my mom did this, and I love the look. My inspiration for hitting these stores started a couple of years ago when a friend of mine who is Uber-retro Cool showed me all of her treasures. I got my dining room table at one of the store because of her and I love it. Katie also makes these cool jewelry thing's out of old jewelry. It is very chic and its just different than anything mass produced right now. I have an old broach that I found that she turned into a hair piece. I'm not usually one who likes hair stuff, but i have to admit, this was cute as heck! If I get brave, Ill get some pics of me and my hair jewelry( she calls it hair bling). Well, Its going on 3AM, and I'm growing more and more tired. My day will start out with a much needed stretch and bike ride(as long as it doesn't storm all day!) My nieces wedding is only a month a way. Time to tighten some things and get ready to play on the beaches at Sand Key. Until next post....
The first day of Cambria's life was the happiest moment of my life, besides the day I married you. But nothing could compare to watching you with our first daughter and the way that you just went into daddy mode. You were made to be a father. When Caislyn came, you were so good about introducing her to her big sister, and keeping Cambria from poking Casi's eyes out. She did have a weird wonderment about that, didnt she? It is almost 8 years later, and It never fails to amaze me how much you love your family. I sit back and in awe of every moment that you teach them something that I wouldn't even think they would even care about. I laugh at how the girls mimic everything you do...Like Cambrias love of the Beatles. You know thats just because she found a group that uses that silly accent she goes into...thanks to you. Caislyn is so much like you, and because I know how to read you like a book, I can finally figure her out...she is a toughie, but so were you once a upon a time. I am so blessed to go through this parenting rollercoaster together...we make a hot team! Love you sweets! Happy Hot Daddy Day!
I am so ready to live by a beach. I wish I could say this is Cocoa, Myrtle, or Lauderdale beach...but its the Indiana Dunes State Park. Its OK though, the sound of the waves was just as relaxing. It could have been warmer, but it was a beautiful day.
For Robs Birthday, I surprised him with a trip to Chicago to see his Guitar model, Phil Keaggy. It was an amazing concert, and Rob absolutely loved it! Years ago, Rob took a plate from his Fender Guitar and took it to a Keaggy concert to have him sign it. This time, Rob had his Les Paul to jam with a friend of his later into the weekend and we just happen to get the idea to have him sign it. Some might think its gay, but he is somewhat a legend. People like Clapton, Hendrix, Van Halen know who Keaggy is. It was a pleasure to speak to someone with so much talent and grace. We spoke briefly and Phil was so gracious to entertain our dumb questions. I think I scored major points with this gift! I wonder how he will top it for my bday...hmmmm I have a few ideas...Trip to Belize...Hawaii...Here, Ill make it easy...Just take me to a beach. The water must be ocean or sea...Lake Freeman or Shafer does not count mister!
The title says it all. Here's my favorite picture of Rob playing the bass. The sky and the sun were perfect for this shot. Yes, I am patting myself on the back...oh and no editing. Yes, I am somewhat of a super hero.

So I was pretty stressed yesterday about stuff. I'm normally a pretty encouraging, positive person, but when I get overwhelmed with details and some of which I cannot control, I turn into a royal...well you get the point. I know I serve a Savior who will take care of all the little details I seem to worry about, but I just want a plan. I want to know what is going to happen when the insurance runs out, or when CAT decides not to call him back, or do I get a full time job or do I wait. I was at my grumpiest point yesterday and received a phone call from a good friend. She was letting me know that a mutual friend of ours is battling cancer again and this time it doesn't look good. At that very moment that I found that out, I walked out on my wet steps only to find myself quickly sliding to the bottom on to a puddle of mud. Perfect. But at that moment, it wasn't the excruciating pain on my backside I was feeling, but the pain of humbleness. I have everything I need, and yet I worry about whats ahead. And here I have a friend of mine who is suffering from cancer and her only worry is the fact that her kids may not have a mom soon. I knew at that moment that God allowed me to fall and focus. Fall and focus...that among all this pain and chaos and confusion and uncertainty, He will see us through it.
Well, my day is better, and so is my attitude. My rear on the other hand...not so much.
On another note... We went to Chicago over the weekend so see my sis and her fiance. What a blast! Then went to the Dunes...Its not Cocoa Beach, but we chillaxed by the sound of the waves and the sand going through out feet...Ill take what I can get for now...Ill post some pictures soon...
Meet Micah and Eli, or Frisky and Sassy, or Eggroll and Tiger...Whatever they decide for the names...Meet the newest addition to our family...
Just when I thought my husband would come through for me, and say absolutely not... he just stands there and smiles. HE cracked! He turned to mush! He is going soft..I just know it...what's next...2 new mustangs in the driveway...No way mister, not unless I get one first..lol
